Stephen Law has a story to tell that combines history and adventure. For history, he uses his father's
journal which tells about logging in the North Woods of Maine from 1913-1923. For adventure, he uses his personal experiences
gained from working on national forests throughout the United States. He describes what he has enjoyed and what our
grandchildren can come to cherish. Steve has appreciated all the elements of our forest resource for nearly a lifetime. |
One of the basic facts he has learned about forest management is that there is no right or wrong way
to manage forest resource, just different objectives of forest users. Steve wanted to share his experiences with others who
enjoy the forest and those who do not have the opportunities he had, so he wrote a book. Hiking, camping, logging, fishing,
hunting and just looking at the scenery are some of the adventures he discusses in detail. As with a lot of aspiring writers,
Steve discovered it is difficult to find a publisher |
interested in first-time authors. After more than a year of
frustrating rejections, he invested in a CD-writer and put his efforts on a compact disk. However, that didn't work either.
In 2008, Steve contacted Tate Publishing & Enterprises, LLC based in Oklahoma. Tate Publishing was interested and by May of
2009, a contract was signed to publish "A Forest Environment". The book should be available by late
2009 or early 2010. |
