ABOUT HUNTING
 |
To the right are three ptarmigan Malcolm Edwards harvested while hunting in SE Alaska. With a high-powered rifle, the only way to kill birds is to shoot the heads off. Any other body hit with the bullet would result in probably not even finding enough bird to bother taking home. |
To the right is the author with one of the mountain goats he harvested on a hunt to the Alaska mainland. The habitat for mountain goats is steep and rocky and primarily above the tree line. These conditions also are found on some of the larger islands in the Tongass National Forest. The Alaska Fish and Game Department has been lobbied to transplant goats to those islands. |
